It has an option to extend toward Mildred Lake and Dorothy Lake, but I don’t imagine it to be easily hike-able in snow conditions.
The initial climb is 6 miles up with 2,700 feet in elevation gain, a very strenuous hike especially with a pack.

There was lots of smoke from the fire in Yosemite. Young coyote observed on trail. Great for wildflowers and looking up at Mount Morrison, also Known as The Great White Fang, at 12,226' elevation. Wonderful experience, easy drive with plenty of parking. At the back of the lake, there is a boardwalk that crosses the creek.

This review is only for the boat rentals at the Convict lake resort. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from June until September. We saw other people on the trail, but for most of the time we felt like we were the only ones. Beautiful sunset walk with sunrays hitting the peaks. Dog friendly, places for them to get in the water. Hiked in morning. An easy trail overall, slightly challenging due to very high winds. We stupidly forgot water bottles (the convenience store located on the road into the parking area sells big bottles of cold water, so if you forget water also, you can certainly buy some).The trail is pretty easy. Awesome place made most memorable with the young couple's wedding ceremony a few weeks back. I do wish there were spots to dispose of fishing “trash” around the trail (some places I’ve been have little bins for this).
124.4 m Up Convict Lake Trail is dog friendly but it was a bit tough on our dog who had a difficult time walking in the hot sand and over sharp rocks. We also carry a book in our general store called California Trails High Sierra, it contains a combination of hiking and SUV trails.

It was hot when we started, and we went counter-clockwise, so we were in the sun the first half. Only 2 or 3 stars in summer... The lake is fed by a stream and we had to cross the stream by walking over a rudimentary bridge (it was just a bunch of big sticks).I think that if we had remembered water the hike would have been perfect.
Convict Lake loop hike is very easy and only takes around 2 hours but you should try to avoid going in the middle of the day when the sun shines right down on you.

There is a second way to get to the same area via an SUV road to Laurel Lakes. The north side of the lake is exposed and sunny, while the west end has an aspen forest, with a long boardwalk to cover the inlet streams. 2.7mi, Kayaked across the lake and hiked up creek trail to impassable landslide area. Some trails or park services may be closed this weekend so check with local authorities before heading out. A little chilly and windy but absolutely beautiful scenery.
