In Isaiah 64:8 we read, "But now, O Lord, thou art our Father and we are the clay, and thou our potter, and we are all works of Thy hands." We must understand His Fatherhood through His Son, who helps us to know Him in an intimate way. It's talking about the fact that before God was forming there was no god before him. We're the clay and you're our potter: All of us are what you made us. He can act as One who loves us, provides for us and discipline us.
