I need motor oil that is Dexos approved, and this specific one is. Lead was 60 ppm with mobil 1/ 34 ppm with pennzoil ultra platinum almost 50% reduction/20 ppm with amsoil. Local store offers both Mobil 1 synthetic and Pennzoil Platinum synthetic at comparable prices. I have been purchasing this motor oil for my 2013 Chevrolet Cruze. I used to be loyal to Mobil 1, now I'm loyal to the federal reserve notes in my wallet.

Note on Amsoil: Yes I do know Amsoil exists. I'm just not interested in Amsoil really but other people in other threads may be. Thank you. I run Pennzoil Ultra in my 09 cts-v and that is most likely the best APPROVED oil on the market outside the amsoil products On Pennzoil's website ultra platinums flashpoint is 224 C which converts to 435 F. After more than 5,000 miles the flashpoint did not change.
There is no "magic" one oil is far superior to the other ones. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Pennzoil Platinum High Mileage with Pure Plus is a first of its kind full synthetic high mileage motor oil made from natural gas and designed to deliver less oil burn off than other high mileage oils. I also always use Motorcraft oil filters since new.
I run Rotella conventional 15w-40 in my Suzuki gs500 and f250 7.3l powerstroke during the summer.

Only a few bucks more in general and so far so good. ColoradoFans.com is the best forum for the Chevy Colorado community to discuss the truck’s reliability, diesel or transmissions problems and more.
The Pennzoil Ultra Platinum has a better motor oil to severe driving conditions while the Mobil 1 does not severe it.
Then give it one of the others and see if the expected results are duplicated. The surfaces were mirror smooth without any scoring on any surface. But Amsoil fan boys will refuse to accept this. Lead was a problem area earlier, which would indicate bearing wear. I've exclusively used full synthetic oil in every item I own that has a motor for the past 20 years. I bought it off amazon at around 8 - 9 buck a quart but it is for the esp formula one, not sure how much different it is.
I would say factoring in what kind of car and motor we're talking about makes a difference, since OP like so many other OPs here didn't tell us the make and model of their car. Even if you were using house brand oil, as long as it has the api seal than you should be ok for 5k.
It's a very good oil and I guess I logged at least 150k -200k with it and no issues. I've used Mobil 1, Penzoil Platinum, and Motomaster Formula 1. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast, More posts from the MechanicAdvice community, Press J to jump to the feed. Have always used Mobil 1 in my Ram for the last several years. Oil is like religion. For a better experience, please enable JavaScript in your browser before proceeding. Great oil for an excellent value.
My impression is that Pennzoil is often regarded as the best mainstream oil brand. All Pennzoil products are approved and the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum comes highly recommended.
I switched to Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic when I got into my "Cherry-Ot".
It's a toyota so itll run well regardless. I started with M1 at 1000 miles and never went more than 5-7k per change.
So anyone who wants proof amsoil is better there it is. Pure Plus Technology is our patented, revolutionary gas-to-liquid process which converts natural gas into a bas oil with lower friction, better low temperature properties and greater stability than conventional motor oil made from crude.
I use Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30 high mileage on my 1996 Honda Accord LX 4 cyl 2.2 F22 naturally aspirated engine.
This great information and as I suspected some opinions may be subjective. According to these measurements, Mobil 1 advanced full synthetic (basic Mobil 1) has a film strength of 117,799 psi whereas Pennzoil Platinum's fim strength is only 99,949 psi. People on forums like BobIsTheOilGuy.com argue back and forth about it - it seems like on a lot of measures Pennzoil Platinum is better (for example it has a lower NOACK volatility, which means it will tend to produce less intake valve deposits from the PCV system). And through my readings I thought reading where many prefer Mobil 1 and Pennzoil Platinum over Amsoil, might be because of the price though? After seeing how popular Mobil1 is and liked, I figured I'd go with it? IMO stick with full syn, 5 or 10W-30 and you can't go wrong. I know it's subjective, but I've been changing oil since 1981 and I really believe my cars' engines run quieter and consume less fuel with this oil (vs Mobil 1 and others).
The engine quieted on start up, and smoothed out. Switch back to Mobil1 and see if your wear numbers go back to the expected level. I have driven approximately 500 miles since the change over. Come join the discussion about upgrades, towing capacity, reliability, and more!
This is for a 5,000 mile oil change interval. I removed the oil pan at 150000 miles to examine the bearings and crankshaft.
Under the hood it states use mobil 1. The engine is quiet and smooth. A little research and you will find this is quality oil and superior to most on the shelves. This is the only oil I use for my 2004 tacoma and it still runs well.
Rotella for Turbos and diesels.
If it's some regular econo box passenger car with no guts like the majority of cars out there, I wouldn't get too excited to spend the extra money for mobil1.
Any full synthetic oil is head over heels above conventional oil. The PUP seems to be very hard to find in the US but there are a few places in my immediate area that stock it.
