We love El Az, we've been enjoying their food since 1980. I would not go back. & 4 oz. El Azteco has a nice outdoor balcony and the location is great. A delicious deep fried burrito filled with: Made from deep fried masa and filled with your choice of frijoles, chicken or beef and topped with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese, Three tacos (two beef & one chicken) served with rice & frijoles, Two beef burritos, one chile verde (spicier) & one chile colorado served with rice & frijoles, Lightly fried blue corn tortillas garnished with tomatoes & scallions, topped with two poached eggs & cheese. I got some nachos that I had called in for and I actually waited extra time to make sure it was ready when I got there. Topper was our waitresses mom was eating next to us, clearly knew we were in the middle of a disaster experience and stopped my daughter and I on the way out to ask about our experience. Wow. Full disclosure, we tried to go to El Azteco about 2 hours after the end of the Wyoming game.Took 20 minutes to get asked what we wanted to drink AFTER we got seated. Chips were burnt and salsa was not as it was. No napkins or silverware, Topopo salad did not have chicken on it - no refills on my pop and we received the chips and salsa right before handing me a bill. At El Azteco West, every day is a fiesta. If you are going for classic EL experience, you can't go wrong. Nice dining room area and rooftop patio. For main dishes, you cannot go wrong with the blue corn or jocoque enchiladas. My favorite of all time,  that I would sometimes bring back 4 or 5 on the plane with me,  off the menu....   Chile Colorado burrito. The margaritas were pretty good... And you can get them by the pitcher! Even simple nachos were a mess and flavorless. Menu may not be up to date. I prefer the original blend, but they have expended their tequila and drink menu from the old days, which is a welcome addition. But always come back to visit friends and family every few years. It's a huge salad piled up and is best eaten like nachos. this mexican restaurant is so fun and has such great service! The prices are very reasonable, especially because the food is so delicious and filling. With gm gone now El az no good. Or just get a combination plate so you can enjoy enchilada, a taco and a tomale, with rice and beans of course. Food is very good and portions are large. El Az's ownership changed a few years ago, and they have done a nice job keeping the original menu items but updating a few things too. They have a bar both on the rooftop and inside. I wish the old owner would come back. El Azteco is a wonderful place to enjoy East Lansing. A mild blend of avocados and spices served with a basket of chips, 3 1/4 oz. Want to chime in.
