Bear in mind the trip to this location is a little remote and can be a bit of a rough drive from the end of Notch Point Rd to Yarrawonga Park Reserve. Yarrawonga Park, Notch Point Reserve is located in Ilbilbie, Queensland (90 km south of Mackay).
Take your rubbish with you. Track in is 4wd only and it is necessary to go through a number of salt water bog holes and there is no freshwater available at the campsite. It is recommended to be only accessed via 4WD only. But we didn’t care because coconuts!! The Notch point campground is set among some spectacular scenery and was our first feel of the tropics with palm trees swaying in the wind and coconuts under the trees with the complimentary muggy atmosphere. It’s a rough drive from the end of Notch Point Road to Yarrawonga Park Reserve and is accessible by a 4WD only. There are absolutely no facilities; however showers, fuel, take-away food, bait and ice are available at the Ilbilbie Roadhouse. The water was oh-so-tempting, but with croc signs everywhere, we thought it best not to tempt fate. There are approximately fifty shacks around Yarrawonga Point, while Notch Point is backed by private land.The Notch Point beach (1186) is 1.8 km long, faces due east and is bordered by low, cleared headlands, together with a creek running out against the southern headland. .
